The 127th Boston Marathon was held on April 17th, 2023, and saw a sweep for Kenya in both the men’s and women’s races. However, the favorite runner, Eliud Kipchoge, was not among the winners. Instead, Benson Kipruto won the men’s race, and Ruth Chepngetich won the women’s race.
The men’s race was highly competitive, with six runners from Kenya and four from Ethiopia. In the end, Benson Kipruto won with a time of 2:08:56, followed closely by fellow Kenyan runner Albert Kangogo, who finished just six seconds later.
The women’s race was also dominated by Kenyan runners, with five out of the top six finishers hailing from Kenya. Ruth Chepngetich won the race with a time of 2:22:33, followed by Ethiopian runner Tsehay Gemechu, who finished just over a minute later.
Despite not winning, Eliud Kipchoge, the favorite runner for the men’s race, put up a strong fight and finished in fourth place with a time of 2:09:22. Kipchoge is a highly decorated marathon runner, with several world records and Olympic medals to his name.
Overall, the 2023 Boston Marathon was a highly competitive and exciting race, with Kenya dominating the podium in both the men’s and women’s races.
